The farmer’s home

Casa del fattore

The famer was an essential figure in the management of the large farms of the Bolognese plains and as such, it was important for him to live onsite.

Documents dating back to 1806 attest to the presence of the farmer’s residence next door to the main house of the Zambeccari family. Midway through the following decade, it is also known that the areas reserved for “farming use” included a kitchen and two other rooms located on the south side of the villa.

The current dimensions were reached in the second half of the 19th century following a series of additions in neo-gothic style.
